Tomorrow we will finally be able to show you our vintage maternity lookbook in full! But for now, I wanted to give one last sneak peek. This look was the most "me" and the one I'd most likely wear in my day to day life. A stripe-y knit sweater that I paired with jeans (pro tip: low rise jeggings > maternity jeans and for a fraction of the cost! I got these ones at Target.) and my favorite fringe boots.
Can't wait to share the final collection as a whole, tomorrow!

Outfit Post: Nostalgia
'Forgive me, Blogger, for I have sinned. It has been 6 MONTHS since my last outfit post...."
Seems as though once the temperatures dipped below 60, I decided to hibernate in my jeans and Ugg boots and giant puffy jacket, all of which I have no photographic evidence. It got so bad that I actually told my husband I was a little sad to see the cold weather go because it meant I'd actually have to get dressed. BUT, yesterday I found out I am done with my seasonal part-time work gig for the year and I was over the moon, so I decided to celebrate by putting on (GASP) a skirt!
This outfit screams 90's to me-- daisy print mini, over-the-knee socks, and keep your eyes peeled for a piece of yin-yang jewelry. Yup. I loved the 90s and I still love the 90s, so I'm happy these nostalgic styles are coming back. Amanda and I were talking about how the fact that we actually lived in that decade and wore those trends the first time around, makes it a little weird to go all out with it this time around (Like, as 30-somethings, aren't we too old it?). I mean, do I love a subtle yin-yang hanging from neck? Sure! Would I rock overalls and creepers? Probably not.
Here is my subtle take the 90s trend....

wearing: vintage skirt // vintage gothic medallion necklace (+ "vintage" yin yang necklace!) // top/tights/boots/socks are old and probably not worth even mentioning...haha.
Well, I'm glad I got that first-outfit-post-in-half-a-year-awkwardness taken care of! We are excited to really delve back into our love for vintage this spring and start sharing more on the blog. Thanks for reading!

Outfit Post: From the Shop / Nineties Love
I'm debating about whether or not to go on waxing poetic on the 90's here (again). I always talk about how much I miss those days...but really, I was only 11 years old in 1994, and I do not miss that (middle school was awkward for me). My friend Sandi is right-- the 90's would best have been experienced when we were in our later high school years or early twenties. At least the clothes are coming back in style now...when I'm age appropriate to rock them with dark lipstick and bedhead.
dress: for SALE in the shop, clutch: for SALE in the shop, gladiator sandals: Deena & Ozzy (and my best accessory: Lyla : )
I totally wish I had some Doc Marten combat boots to wear with this dress... but it was 90 degrees yesterday so it would've been way too hot for them anyway! I hope whoever buys this dress has some though... Yep, the dress is for sale in the shop! (I'm just not 100% sold on the fit of it on my body.)
I hope you're all getting as pumped for Memorial Day weekend as I am! It's a pretty big deal around these parts... and I can't wait to have my sis here. ; )

Outfit Post: Hat Lady
Lately I have been really trying to define my style and pinpoint what I think is me...mostly in my brain and via Pinterest (because honestly, it is STILL cold and I just can't bear to give up my heavy sweaters and sweat pants most days). I like basics + cool accessories, and an awesome hat is the perfect topper to spice up any boring outfit. Amanda gave me this vintage wide brim hat when I visited her this past weekend, without even knowing that I have been coveting a similar style hat for a while now. It is perfect! Here's how I wore it...
hat: vintage, bag: vintage Coach (for sale in the shop!), sweater: vintage,
scarf: Walmart, belt: vintage, black jeans: Gap, boots: Minnetonka
Lyla in her daddy's hat and hand-me-down everything else...and looking cute as could be!
Andrew called this an "Indiana Jones hat" and Lyla called it a "cowboy hat." I suppose they're both sort of right? Either way, I felt great wearing it and can't wait to style it up with a dress once the weather decides to stop being so mean to us!

Outfit Post: I Want a Girl With A...
This long camel coat is actually a piece from the shop. I am so surprised no one snatched it up yet, and decided I might as well take it for a test run! I wasn't sure about the length on me (I am pretty short) but man, was it cozy having that extra bit of leg covered!
coat: Miskabelle Vintage, sweater: vintage (it was my mom's!),
jeans: BDG, boots: vintage, bag: Lucky Brand
I will say, the snow is awfully pretty. And check out those little foot prints behind me in the last photo-- looks like we had some deer prancing through our yard! This week I'm starting Valentine's Day prep-- Lyla and I are going to make some decorations (I'm thinking paper doilies and construction paper, like when I was a kid!) and Amanda and I are prepping some pretty cool stuff for February blog posts. Trying to make some fun come from being stuck indoors!

Outfit Post: ...And Again
So, in case you haven't noticed, when I find something I feel "good" in, I tend to get into a trend of wearing variations of it all the time. My last outfit post was a slouchy hat, and a mini skirt with black tights and boots...and here I am, rocking that again (with a different hat, skirt and boots).
hat: Gap, top: J.Crew (thrifted!), jacket: Forver21 (from Forever ago! ha, see what I did there?), skirt: vintage (shortened), boots: vintage, necklace: gift from Amanda, velvet bag: American Eagle (olllllld)
Notice my little paint palette brooch, on my purse?? It was given to me by my husbands grandma (it was hers, so it is, in fact, "vintage"). I think it adds a fun touch, and sort of updates the bag.
I wore this Christmas shopping yesterday-- and guess what? I'm DONE! I was determined to get my shopping finished a little early this year, so I could really enjoy the season and not be stressing over gifts. So instead of obsessing over every little price tag, I just bought what I thought people would like. So my wallet is empty, but it feels damn good!

Outfit Post: Mom Jean...Shorts
So I have been facing this conundrum-- the whole "mom jeans" shorts thing has become very on trend. And while, in general, I think it is very hard to pull off (the right fit is KEY), I think it is even more questionable when you are actually a mom. But I do love the high waist look (nice for us short-legged gals) and wanted to see if I could make it work for me. I found these Levi's shorts at the thrift store and they fit me perfectly. My one qualm (in regards to all high waisted pants/shorts) is the butt pockets sitting really high on the tush. So, in full disclosure, I wore a long jacket, open, when I actually left the house in these shorts. ***also, I do not believe in moms--especially those who are approaching age 30-- showing their bellies in public, other than when swimming! my shorts just happened to need pulled up a tad and I didn't realize it till we were almost done taking these photos! So please excuse that little bit of skin in the first few pictures.
I feel a little guilty for having both this and my last outfit post be denim shorts + tights + sweater...but that just happens to be my "thing" right now. Guess I'm not quite ready to let go of summer, and this is my way of hanging on! We do have a couple pair of high rise cut-offs in the SHOP right now if you want to try your hand at this look!

Outfit Post: Saturated
There are certain colors my eye is drawn to when sifting through racks of clothing (usually at the thrift store)-- the top two being red and mustard yellow. This sweater had my name written all over it, with its rich ochre color and thick cable knit. I love that I match the fall foliage!
I took a cue from Amanda and went with a red lip to pair with my yellow sweater (ketchup and mustard, anyone?). The gray accents (purse, scarf, tights) were sort of accidental but I guess brown would be too predictable and black would've made me look like a bumble bee.
What colors are you drawn to for your wardrobe?

Outfit Post: From the Shop + DIY
I must admit I am kind of loving this whole indian summer thing that is going on right now in Pennsylvania. I love me some sunshine.... But I'm also pretty excited to wear fall-like clothes. We have some awesome things in the shop right now, including this plaid button up and denim skirt. Both are pieces that work for warm-ish weather and also translate well into cold weather staples (layer, layer, layer!).
Now. Let's talk boots. I found this DIY on Mr. Kate (loooooove her) and while it calls for vintage cowboy boots, I was too anxious to wait on finding a pair. But lo and behold my good old side zip booties. I got these in 2002, at the height of the pointy-toe boots with flared jeans trend and I am so thankful that I went with this pair with slightly more rounded toe because they have stood the test of time! I'm not a fan of the mid-calf height and loved the idea of turning them into ankle booties (amazing, one of a kind, bohemian ones, at that). My husband said I'm "cute" for making/wearing these. Translation: I love you, even if you wear stuff that's a little crazy for my taste.
Hope you all have a lovely first weekend of autumn!

I used vintage belts, vintage lace (cut from a night gown), some old gold chain necklaces and t-shirt scraps for the ties.
My apologizes for the abundance of photos! I love the light/sun flares in these pictures so much.

Outfit Post: Something Old, Something New
Can I confess something? These "outfit posts" make me feel quite silly sometimes. The thing is, I don't think I'm really fashionable (I love fashion but I'm not the greatest at partaking in trends, personally). In fact, sometimes I look back at these posts and think "what the hell was I wearing??" But I do love being able to share how I put together an outfit, using vintage pieces and making them look updated. And I love that can give a perspective of what it's like to have a wardrobe where virtually no new pieces are coming in (wah, I'm poor). Sometimes it turns out cool. Sometimes I look pretty lame. And I suppose I'm fine with that (even if it is documented on the internet for all to see).
A couple of pieces here are making their second appearance on the Miskabelle blog. The vintage blouse, first seen HERE and the lace cardigan thingy, seen HERE. And though I just said that I'm sharing how I come up with outfits, consisting of no new pieces...I guess I lied. The mocs are new (a gift for sharing My Minnetonka Story)! I guess since I didn't buy them, that still kind of counts?
(I don't know what I'm doing in that second picture....but I do know that I have the same
uber-serious, I'm-trying-to-be-a-model expression in both.)
blouse: vintage, cardigan: DIY, jeans: Gap (thrifted. Score!), moccasins: Minnetonka Thunderbird
So pretty much, this is my monthly (ahem, there may be a common denominator there), self-deprecating outfit post. Also, I was really COLD being outside in short sleeves for these photos--yay Fall!

Outfit Post: Mama and Baby
One of my favorite parts of my day is getting my 1.5 year old, Lyla, dressed each morning. Because while I don't always feel great about my own wardrobe/body, there's no doubt that she looks perfect in everything! Like my own wardrobe, Lyla's is a mix of hand-me-downs, vintage and some special new pieces. Here we both are, in vintage frocks with criss cross backs.
We are currently vacationing in Vermont and are most likely eating some Ben & Jerry's or wading in Lake Champlain...

My face in the first photo= "we're really going to take these pictures
with her holding a McDonald's cup?" It was empty, just FYI. ; )
On Jayme: vintage dress, random (loads and loads of..) jewelry, Deena and Ozzy sandals
On Lyla: vintage romper, hand-me-down sandals, bow-a gift from her Grammy

Outfit Post: Scissors + Dress = Skirt
I am the type of girl that doesn't mind getting food/paint/dirt on my clothes. A little snag or hole in a shirt? I'll still wear it. I'm also not afraid to take the scissors and go to town on an article of clothing that is not to my liking. The skirt below was once a dress. I chopped off the top half and added an elastic waistband. It didn't take much skills/creativity but it did take some guts. I am pleased with the results!
tank: Target, skirt: vintage (made from a dress), saddle bag: vintage,
sandals: Minnetonka, necklace: Charlotte Russe, headband: vintage
I think I would pair those Minnetonka sandals with just about everything in my summer wardrobe. In fact, this outfit is the formula for pretty much what I wear every day. Plain tank + vintage skirt + tons of jewelry + Minnetonka sandals = go-to summer look. What is YOUR go-to summer look?
