Outfit Post: Nostalgia

'Forgive me, Blogger, for I have sinned.  It has been 6 MONTHS since my last outfit post...."

Seems as though once the temperatures dipped below 60, I decided to hibernate in my jeans and Ugg boots and giant puffy jacket, all of which I have no photographic evidence.  It got so bad that I actually told my husband I was a little sad to see the cold weather go because it meant I'd actually have to get dressed.  BUT, yesterday I found out I am done with my seasonal part-time work gig for the year and I was over the moon, so I decided to celebrate by putting on (GASP) a skirt!

This outfit screams 90's to me-- daisy print mini, over-the-knee socks, and keep your eyes peeled for a piece of yin-yang jewelry. Yup.  I loved the 90s and I still love the 90s, so I'm happy these nostalgic styles are coming back.  Amanda and I were talking about how the fact that we actually lived in that decade and wore those trends the first time around, makes it a little weird to go all out with it this time around (Like, as 30-somethings, aren't we too old it?).  I mean, do I love a subtle yin-yang hanging from neck?  Sure!  Would I rock overalls and creepers?  Probably not.

Here is my subtle take the 90s trend....

Well, I'm glad I got that first-outfit-post-in-half-a-year-awkwardness taken care of!  We are excited to really delve back into our love for vintage this spring and start sharing more on the blog.  Thanks for reading!

Shop Preview: Florals for Spring

When it comes to vintage, there is nothing I love more than a pretty floral dress.  We've got quite a few coming to the shop this week, mostly from the 90s (which, duh, I LOVE).  I'm pretty crazy about this new 90s trend (ex. floral dress paired with Doc Marten boots).  What sort of scares me about it is that the 1990s was the decade I grew up in, so if I rock this trend am I going to look like I'm stuck in a time warp?.....because I don't want to be that woman who looks like she can't let go of her high school years (like the women I'd make fun of when I was growing up in the 90s, that were still wearing their big 80s hair and tapered jeans).  ANYWAY.  For those of you who are already confident in this trend, here are some of dresses you might be interested in:

(1- 90s cotton short sleeved dress, 70s billowy floral dress, 90s rayon maxi dress, 90s boxy dress)

I also recently came across what I like to call "sister dresses."  You fellow-thrifters know what I'm talking about.  Two dresses that are very similar and most likely belonged to the same owner.  These two are the same brand and style but different prints and different sizes (one is a small, the other a medium).

Outfit Post: Be Mine

Happy Valentine's to you!  Sorry to those of you who saw the title of this post and thought that I was extending an invitation to be my Valentine.  Not only am I already taken (love you Andrew!) but I was actually talking to the sweater I'm wearing in these photos.  You know, it's not often that I find something vintage that I love and KEEP.  Most of the good stuff I put into the shop to sell (lucky you!).  But after posting this United Colors of Benetton 90s cropped sweater I realized it actually looked quite sad on the dress form in the photos.  And it had a small snag on the one arm that I hadn't noticed when I bought it.  So I figured the chances of it selling are quite slim.  And I realized it was the perfect opportunity to keep this gem all to myself.  So to the "deactivated" archives it went, and then immediately pulled on over my chambray top.  Mine, all mine.  : )

Time to bust out the faux fur coat...
