Outfit Post: I Want a Girl With A...

...short skirt and a long jacket (Cake, anyone?).

This long camel coat is actually a piece from the shop.  I am so surprised no one snatched it up yet, and decided I might as well take it for a test run!  I wasn't sure about the length on me (I am pretty short) but man, was it cozy having that extra bit of leg covered!

 I will say, the snow is awfully pretty.   And check out those little foot prints behind me in the last photo-- looks like we had some deer prancing through our yard!  This week I'm starting Valentine's Day prep-- Lyla and I are going to make some decorations (I'm thinking paper doilies and construction paper, like when I was a kid!) and Amanda and I are prepping some pretty cool stuff for February blog posts.  Trying to make some fun come from being stuck indoors!

Miskabelle Vintage + Salvaged Love + Chambray Shirt

We wanted to find a unique way to share our partners' work with you--Claire of Salvaged Love Jewelry did a giveaway last month, but this month, we wanted to showcase two of our favorite pieces from her shop and style an outfit around each:  kind of a sister style throwdown!

Funny story:  As I was putting the post together, Jayme sent her outfit, and we'd both chosen the same shirt!  But chambray is a classic piece that can be styled in so many ways, so we decided to keep it!  Now you have two ways to style a chambray shirt AND two ways to dress up a Salvaged Love necklace:

 To Style: Tuck shirt in and add a belt over the vest to cinch waist. Add textured black tights.

SHOP:  necklace /// top /// vest /// skirt /// boots 

To Style:  Knot shirt at waist. Add mid-calf socks to peek slightly out from top of boots. 

SHOP:  necklace /// top /// skirt /// bag /// boots

Which look is your favorite? I kind of love them both! Jayme's look is very Ralph Lauren equestrian (the vest is actually RL!) and my look is a little country-girl cool. And Claire's jewelry is the perfect accessory to make these casual looks a little bit fancy.

Outfit Post: Saturated

There are certain colors my eye is drawn to when sifting through racks of clothing (usually at the thrift store)-- the top two being red and mustard yellow.  This sweater had my name written all over it, with its rich ochre color and thick cable knit.  I love that I match the fall foliage!

"Hi, I am cool and angst-y."

I took a cue from Amanda and went with a red lip to pair with my yellow sweater (ketchup and mustard, anyone?).  The gray accents (purse, scarf, tights) were sort of accidental but I guess brown would be too predictable and black would've made me look like a bumble bee.

Outfit Post: Reds

Red lips are still my favorite little indulgence. They make me feel a little vintage-y, even if my outfit is not. They are so glamorous!  When I wear something red, I can't help but put on my favorite lipstick.

This is another cozy outfit for winter--I have been living in these Gap jeans (thanks, Jayme!) with boots and sweaters and of course, my favorite scarf.  I found this sweater while thrifting this week, and may hoard it for myself at least a little while.

This was a Sunday-errands look. Although I'm a major skirt and dress lover, I have been trying to find a selection of jeans I don't hate to improve my casual wardrobe since that's the wardrobe I go to most of the time during the week (running to the post office, blogging, chasing after Aurora). I need to add a few more basics, but first:  on the hunt for an amazing 30th birthday dress. I think it's gonna be impossible--but I'll keep you posted!
