Sister Style Off: Holiday Shopping

We're excited to feature a new segment on the blog today...Jayme and I were never super competitive, even though we are close in age. We always just kind of had our own "things": Jayme is an artist and I'm a writer. We both did dance and cheerleading, but were often in the same class, etc.

But there's nothing wrong with a little competition when it's about putting together a cute (secondhand!) outfit. We started with the same building block piece--some great dark skinny jeans--and paired them with items from the shop.

It's the time of year for trips to the mall or the city--here is what we'd wear for a day of toting bags and eating food court junk.

Amanda's picks: sweater /// booties /// tote
To Style:  Cuff jeans at ankles.
Jayme's picks: vest  /// boots /// bag
To Style:  Add a soft cotton baseball tee (like this one) underneath!
Gap Jeans (super sale!)

Whick look is more your style?

Guest Post: A Wild Tonic

Hello, friends! We are finally here in WV, and it's sweltering.  We already hit up a thrift store (lots of great scores!) and got iced coffees--we're getting ready to head to a lake after kiddo naptime.

We are thrilled to have our friend Lauren of A Wild Tonic to the blog today! She shares our love of vintage and selling vintage and blogging!  She created a fun little collaboration while we're (sort of) away from the blog!  Lauren, you rock!

Hey, Miskabelle readers! It's Lauren from A Wild Tonic, and I'm here today to share what I think will be your vintage Fourth of July Outfit. The Fourth of July is one of the best holidays, in my opinion. It's a day to kick back with family and friends, eat a lot of BBQ and have a few beers, play with sparklers, and appreciate just how lucky we all are. I put together this fun little outfit from the Miskabelle and A Wild Tonic Etsy shops as an example of what I think a perfect Independence Day outfit would be. Cutoffs, a cute top, shades, sandals, and a purse..in red, white, and/or blue, of course. Whether you're celebrating this weekend, Wednesday, or next weekend, I hope you American Miskabelle readers have an awesome and safe holiday! :)

What to Wear: Fourth of July

I know I'm not the only one looking forward to a three day weekend.  I'm also not the only who who maybe wants to partake in a little patriotism (i.e. wearing red, white and blue) without looking like this:

So I put together two cute, casual, head-to-toe vintage outfits for the celebration of our Nation.  One outfit is for day (which is sure to be a hot one here in VA) and the other is for evening (or a cooler climate, like in some Northwestern states I know).  Either one would be great for an inevitable picnic/BBQ on Monday. And the best part?  These outfits are both under $100.

TOTAL for this look:  $70.  BOOM.

TOTAL for this look:  $96.

Holiday or not, these outfits are a steal! We make saving money look good. I think that some big company has a similar tagline, but for us, it's the cross-your-heart and hope-to-die Truth. And that's the stuff of America (or is that Amer-cuh?).

Enjoy the day, American friends!

xo,
Amanda
