Music to Our Eyes: Lindi Ortega

The great thing about being in a band with someone who really "gets" me is that my bandmate, Jason, always has new music to recommend for me.  A couple of weeks ago, he got me hooked on Lindi Ortega, who was in town, opening for Social Distortion.  Not only did I absolutely love her music (and download "Little Red Boots" right away), but I also dig her style!  She's a mix of vintage, bohemian, rockabilly, pinup, western--basically, all of my favorite styles rolled into one.

I'm not sure I could pull off all of these looks, but I'm definitely hankering for a pair of little red boots of my own (and that cute little western dress!).

Go check out Lindi's music (start with the song "Little Lie," and you'll be hooked!), as well as these pieces from some awesome vintage shops on Etsy!

Outfit Post: Blacks and Blues

Nothing turns around a bad day for me like getting a package in the mail. My love language (if you know anything about them) is GIFTS!  It can be the tiniest thing--like Q bringing home my favorite candy--but it's meaningful to me. I just love little presents--getting them for others, receiving them, and getting them for myself on occasion (treat yo'self!).

It's rare I buy things for me these days, but when I saw this dress on Etsy for a steal and in my size, I couldn't pass it up:
Outfit details:  1950s plaid dress-Etsy, belt-vintage, tights-random, lace up booties-thrifted Michael Kors

It was a quintessentially perfect all day outside.  Q was taking a course nearby instead of working, so we met him for lunch and he came home early!  I took him thrifting (aka, he chased Aurora so I could shop) and then we want to our new neighborhood obsession, Mom's Organic Market, for dinner. I should also say, I've been back to 100% vegan for just a little over two weeks, and I feel awesome, and I feel like I'm looking awesome...not in a bragging way, but I've lost some weight and my skin is clear and my hair is shiny, so that makes me feel happy. This time around, I'm trying to avoid soy as much as possible, and it's really helping...more vegan recipes coming to the blog, for those of you who were interested!

Also:  I trimmed my own bangs.  I'm pretty pleased, even though the side fringe is still awkwardly growing out (and tucked behind my ears).  Grow, hairs, grow!

Happy Friday!!!

Amanda
