A's Vintage Wedding Celebration PREVIEW!

It's been too long since we've updated (we know!)  Miskabelly has been going smashingly, keeping us both very busy, as have been baby preparations for J, and wedding celebration preparations for me!

Quentin and I became husband and wife on May 5, 2010, (5/5/10).  Yes, it was Cinco de Mayo, but no, we did not celebrate with margaritas--we just had dinner at the restaurant where we had our first "date."  We were married by a sweet celebrant with Aurora (who, at barely 3 months old, slept soundly in her carseat) as our only witness.

Our families didn't even know until recently! We were so busy with a new baby and moving and job changing that we couldn't celebrate the way we wanted.  It was important for us to commit ourselves to each other then...but we are looking MOST forward to celebrating with our families!  We have planned a big backyard bash for October, and the theme of the day is, of course, VINTAGE.

Here's a little peek at Q's dapper duds:
1940s camel wool vest, eBay (shastavintage)
1940s Fall Leaves tie, Etsy (Art Deco Dame)
Dexter Spectators, Thrift Store (saw them, loved them, and they were his size!  FATE.)

Of course I'm not going to show you mine (what kind of girl do you think I am?! hehe.) since I don't want to give too much away (especially since my hubby is a big fan of the blog), but it's vintage and it's gorgeous.  My "bridesmaids" are also going to be in some vintage duds and maybe even Mama Miskabelle--we're working on finding something for her.

But the vintage doesn't just stop at the clothes...we've been amassing decor for our outdoor celebration from thrift stores, antique shops, and the Miska basement for a couple months now (after I collected many pictures of ideas that I liked).  We'll be eating, drinking, and being merry until late into the night--a few evenings ago Q and I did our lighting scheme for the backyard.  We feel it's safe to say:  our wedding party is going to be AWESOME!  Here are a few glimpses into our growing collection of pretty things:
oil lamps, vases, blue jars, and candle holders

a vintage suitcase, old books, and framed pressed flowers

our big box of outdoor lanterns (some vintage, some new)

We can't wait to share the final product with you!  We're so happy, and we're looking forward to sharing our love with all the people we love most.

Stay gorgeous,
A
