Outfit Post: Surprise Bohemian

I know, I know..I've really been into my 40s/50s pinup looks, but the bohemian looks of the 70s are the easiest by far, and I needed a quick outfit for a busy morning at Aurora's preschool.  I have wanted to wear a maxi skirt as the weather cooled down, but wasn't sure about the shoes.  Totally flat boots make me feel WAY matronly.  But these boots have a small wedge, so they worked perfectly!

Outfit details:  cashmere scarf-thrifted (!), scoop back sweater-UO (thrifted), belt-vintage, skirt-vintage, 

boots-Aldo (thrifted!), leather wrap bracelet-Lucky Brand (old)

And yes, I trimmed my bangs and dyed my hair (again!). They didn't have the box color I used last time, so I went a little darker, and of course, it's too dark. But it was getting way too light, so in about a week or so I'd say it'll be perfect. Just in time for family Christmas photos!  Also:  it's was 57 degrees here!  In mid-December! I'm not complaining, but it's supposed to be MUCH cooler in Pennsylvania...definitely dreaming of a white Christmas.

Outfit Post: The Go-To

So here's the part where I complain about how it's already too cold (after two months of complaining that it was still too hot!).  That Sandy really ushered in a cold front.  But no worries--I have the perfect outfit, all ready to go.  This is my late fall/early winter go-to look:  full skirted dress + belt + cardigan + socks/tights + boots.  Easy--and warm (although I did wish I had worn tights today after I spent some time outside!).

What do you think of my little beehive? I wore this to Aurora's preschool for their harvest parade/party.  With the cateye makeup I felt very "yummy mummy." But that's not a bad thing, is it?  It feels good to feel pretty once in a while.  Q was a fan too. :)

Outfit Post: Sister Style

I feel like lately, Amanda and I have each been really hitting our strides in terms of personal style.  Throughout high school and college, I think we both often jumped on trends and tried to wear what was "cool" (even if that meant bib overalls or matching sweater sets, ick).  But with age, and I'll even say motherhood, you start to learn to be yourself.  You wear what you are comfortable in and what looks good on you.  I don't really care if anyone else considers my clothes "stylish", I just want to be my own person.  And I think Amanda would certainly say the same.  Our styles are certainly different from one another but we can still take inspiration from the same things....

We come from a family of jewelers (as we probably mentioned before) and have always loved accessorizing. While we each have some nice family heirloom jewelry, we tend to wear a lot of cheap costume jewelry. We almost forgot what real jewelry was like!  When we received these beautiful pieces from Blue Nile in the mail, it was easy to see the difference.  They really sparkle, and the craftsmanship is obvious, down to the pretty toggle clasp.  The gemstones are clear and perfectly cut.  Simply put:  we were both in love!
