Autumn Style with Miskabelle Vintage and Zappos

In partnership with Zappos we styled our new Paige jeans and Freebird boots in our signature boho chic, vintage-inspired style.

We are thrilled to be doing a double outfit post today. (The only thing that could make it better would be if we could be in the same place and take each others' photos, but this will have to do, until this upcoming weekend when we celebrate early Thanksgiving!).

We are also thrilled to have the chance to work with Zappos, who just turned 15 years old (happy birthday!).  The selection of boots and denims was astounding, which made it really hard to choose. But even though we took our time picking which pieces to add to our vintage wardrobes, they shipped ridiculously fast--and free.  Pretty much a dream experience.

Amanda:  I  have been embracing a more Bohemian look these days, so I jumped at the chance to add these beautiful Freebird by Steven El Paso boots to my wardrobe. They are handcrafted from start to finish with Goodyear construction, a technique used to make the highest quality boots for centuries. And to really fit with their name--Freebird--the designs go through 5 or 6 final steps to ensure each piece is one of a kind. These are the most beautiful things I've ever worn on my feet, no exaggeration, and I know they will last me for years.

Notice the multicolored hair, post-Halloween. I am definitely a Freebird.

A dress with boots is pretty much one of my fall wardrobe staples. I paired one of my favorite bohemian summer dresses with a flowy cardigan and vintage necklace and earrings to match the boho/Americana vibe of the El Paso boots. I can pretty much see myself rocking the boots and dress every season, adding tights for winter and leaving the cardigan at home when it's hot outside.  Yes, I wear boots year-round.

Jayme:  Well, jeans are not my best friend right now, being 31 weeks pregnant, but I was excited to see that Zappos had some awesome options from Paige Denim (they have so much more than just shoes!), and it was easy to find one that included lots of stretch!  These Hoxton Ankles are not maternity jeans, but I simply have a belly band (non-mamas, you may need to google this!) at the waist.  These are honestly jeans to live in.  For day or evening, they are so easy to style and definitely go along with Paige's philosophy of "chic sensibility".  We were really inspired by Paige Denim's founder, Paige Adams-Geller-- being the only female founder in the denim industry (girl power!) and love the fact that they use U.S. manufacturers.

Jeans really are my typical fall go-to, and this baby bump requires an easy, long tank top.  I just have to add a cute jacket and some boots to complete the look.  I sort of feel like I'm breaking some sort of rule by pairing the black (faux) leather  jacket with brown suede boots, but I think the mix and match of it makes it feel more bohemian.  Not to mention, the layers of bracelets that I can't seem to leave home without!

Thanks again to Zappos, Paige Premium Denim, and Freebird by Steve for helping us build a dreamy fall wardrobe!

We'll be back in a few more weeks with two more styles for the holiday season! Stay tuned!!

Meet Brika

About Brika
By featuring the work of authentic makers, artisans and designers, BRIKA has created an online shopping experience that celebrates modern craft, storytelling and the belief that our lives are as beautiful as we wish to make them.

Drawing on their shared values of following one’s passions and building a beautiful life through well-crafted, everyday objects, founders Jen and Kena developed the concept for BRIKA, a unique online shopping destination that offers a curated selection of special pieces that are destined to become heirlooms and celebrates the makers behind them. Weaving a sense of community and creativity into the fabric of the brand, BRIKA is a place shoppers can come to find inspiration as easily as beautiful, modern crafts.

Why We Love Them
The idea of a well-crafted life has always been our own goal. We love supporting small businesses (vintage and handmade) and BRIKA has some of the most beautiful (and beautifully curated) items we've seen from any independent site of its kind.  It is the perfect site for gift-giving, with many items under $40...jewelry, accessories, pretty things for the home, and a stellar kiddo section (which Amanda can't WAIT to go nuts on!).

Here is a little collection of some of our favorite items online right now:

Check out BRIKA if you love pretty, handmade things and want to support an amazing small business run by two talented women.  It's our new favorite online shopping destination for sure.

Every member that signs up for BRIKA receives a $15 BRIKA credit in their email inboxes. They are also automatically entered in a BRIKA giveaway to win one of 2 online $100 BRIKA gift cards.

I was selected for this sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do.

My husband and I were actually just good friends long before we got together. Due to a variety of circumstances, we just didn’t feel that way. At first. The truth is, I didn’t give Quentin a second look. It’s not because he’s not handsome—because he is. But he just didn’t feel positively about himself (he’s going to be so embarrassed about this post, but it’s true!). He is confident about his work and about being a father and about the many things he’s good at, but he’s never been confident about his appearance. It just didn’t matter to him.

I was attracted to him for so many reasons even though he wasn’t my “type.” He has to wear khakis and a shirt and tie to work every day. He’s 15 years older than I am. He has two teenage daughters. But he also had this certain something that attracted me to him. And I wanted to make sure he knew it!

So we fell in love. He made me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world (and still does). And I decided, now that I’d snagged him, it was time for “Extreme Makeover: Q Edition.”

Q & A
We started with little things: he wore glasses that he’d had forever; it turned out he barely needed them. He just hid behind them so people wouldn’t notice him. Then, it was time to work on the wardrobe—he loves to do woodworking and gardening and sports, so all of his clothes were dirty, holey, and extra-casual. Our first step was getting what I called a pair of “cute jeans.” From there, he became more and more open to my influence on his wardrobe. We added some fancier button up shirts and fitted tee shirts. And now, we’ve even started to add some vintage pieces (he gets almost as excited as I do at a great thrift find!)

I love my husband unconditionally, but seeing him love himself and have the confidence that he’s not only a smart man, and a good man, but also a sexy man just increases my attraction to him. It seemed silly at first, but in the end, the makeover was extreme.

Now I tease him that he’s the “trophy husband.” I love bringing home new pieces from my shopping adventures for him to try—though my most recent failure was a pair of too-skinny gray jeans (the tag said straight leg, I swear!). Lesson learned.

Amanda
