The Virginia Studio: Before

Oh, this is embarrassing.  Sometimes the studio was cleaner/more organized, but because it is a small place with a lot of inventory, packing stuff, crafting materials and any miscellaneous junk that needed a place to hang out.  Pretty soon, I was working in the living room,, TV room, my bedroom, our upstairs office, ANYWHERE but here.  I knew it was time for a change, so Q proposed that, as part of my 30th birthday gift, he would help me renovate the studio (which also, as you can see in the photo, got some water damage).

The studio was an addition to the house (done poorly).  The wall color is awful, the blinds were disgusting, the light was outdated, one closet was broken, and the carpeting?  Blech.  So there is a lot to do. I had been scouring Pinterest for inspiration, and from there, my handy husband came up with some plans.  We're putting in new flooring, painting, and building a desk (we also fixed the ceiling). I refurbished an old light fixture--it looks amazing!--and started investing in some furniture/decor (via Etsy, Craigslist, ebay, and our thrift!). It's all starting to come together, and I can't WAIT to share the after pictures! Not only will it be my Etsy shop studio, but also a writing/crafting/music studio and a place to just chill out.

Yikes, right?

Thank you for the birthday wishes yesterday! 30 is awesome so far. I am anticipating a visit from my family and a big party this weekend, so I have been cleaning and shopping like a madwoman. I am so excited!  Then Q and I leave for our little roadtrip and will begin the big work of the studio renovation (cleaning/painting/flooring) at the end of next week when we return.

So it's back to work for me! I hope to check in while on the road because, of course, we have a lot of thrifting planned! :)
