Outfit Post: Fort Reno

It took us all summer, but we finally got our stuff together, packed a picnic (a big loaf of bread, hummus, veggies, olives, cheese and salami (for the non vegans), chocolate chip cookies), and headed into DC for the free outdoor concert series at Fort Reno.  It just happened to be the last night for it this year, and the weather was perfect---breezy and cool.

Maxi dresses are great for events like this which involve a lot of sitting in the ground. No flashing involved.  Cute pants or shorts are also a good option, but we all know how I feel about shorts and it was still a little warm for pants. Plus, I was dying to try on and wear this dress I found while thrifting: it's totally 90s grunge. I can see it in the fall with a tough jacket and some boots.

dress-vintage (thrifted), tank-Target, shoes-MIA, jewelry-random

The dress has this swirly open weave design on the bodice that makes it super unique. I put a tank underneath, but the more daring could probably get by with a cute piece of black lingerie (and some six pack abs to go with it).

Aurora also dressed for the occasion (her shirt is vintage, and I think it's really a baby dress, but it will be coming soon to the baby shop!).  She wanted to run around and meet people the whole time, so while we had fun, it wasn't the most relaxing evening (at least, not for Q)...the other bonus of the show was the ice cream truck.  Of course, there was nothing vegan, even though Q tried by getting me a creamy coconut pop--the first ingredient was milk. And not coconut milk. FAIL.  Still, I loved him for trying and just munched on another vegan oatmeal chocolate chip cookie instead.

We are looking forward to a beautiful weekend with some biking, relaxing, and a little trip to Richmond.  Hope yours is lovely!

xo,
Amanda
