Since becoming vegan, I've become a little obssessed with cooking, entertaining, and making my food (and plating) look pretty. Sometimes it's because I'm featuring the recipe on our blog, other times it's just for me. Q and I started collecting vintage pieces for our kitchen on our thrifting/antiquing adventures. I thought I'd share some of my favorites.
These are the pieces that started it all! Copper topped canisters in that perfect 50s blue, and a pink (!) breadbox w/copper front (where we keep snacks).
These pieces are especially useful for entertaining! At our wedding, we used a variety of vintage plates for the place settings, and I held on to a few of my favorites (bottom right) that I now use as serving plates.
I think I'm drawn to a specific color scheme (yellow/orange/lime green anyone?). I love entertaining w/ special glasses, a my evening cup of tea is just better in a vintage mug.
Who doesn't love a pretty Pyrex bowl? I use them as serving dishes and mixing bowls! I still want to add a few colors to my collection (and sizes), though Q says I have enough...
Since going vegan, I've also been doing other things to make our home greener--like using cloth napkins! I love these prints so much. And since we have used, scratched up hand-me-down kitchen and dining room tables, I love finding pretty vintage tablecloths to spruce them up when we're having company.
I hope you enjoyed this little peek at some of my favorite vintage things for the kitchen! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to finish packing the car for our trip to PA to see the family!!! <------so so so excited.
xo,
Amanda
I wanna go shopping in your kitchen! lol
ReplyDeleteWe had vintage dishes for our wedding too...I'm selling most of them because what are we ever gonna do with 100+ dishes and dessert plates again? But I'm keeping some...I can't part with ALL of them! They're too beautiful.
Vintage charm in a kitchen makes it so homey and inviting.
I love this post! And the wheat glasses because they remind me of my grandma! Tell Q you can always use more pyrex!
