Shop Preview: Sweetest Blues

On Monday, I shared a little bit about our daytrip to Leesburg, VA.  I mentioned I'd found a couple things for the shop, and that Q got a little early birthday present for me.   These are truly 3 of the most beautiful vintage dresses I've ever had in my possession (but you may soon have one in YOUR possession, once they're in the shop!) Without further ado:

1940s Rayon Floral Button Down Dress w/  Pockets + Velvet Ribbon at Collar, Size Large (12/14)

1950s Waitress/Stewardess Wiggle Dress with Navy Trim and Large Buttons,

 Size on tag 16 (fits like modern 10)

 The waitress dress has its original tags...it's never been worn!

And my 1940s birthday beauty...polka dots and eyelet sleeves + a belt.  

Because we live in such a transient area, it's really difficult to find vintage pre-1960s.  I always feel so lucky when I do. And this sucks since the 40s and 50s are my favorite decades for fashion.  I didn't pay thrift store prices for these dresses, but I was pleased with how reasonable they were, and I may start hunting antique shops more often...

Shop Preview: De-Lovelies

We find a ton of 60s and 70s clothes, but it's 40s and 50s clothes that are my true loves--and of course, way harder to find when simply thrifting.  I was ultra lucky to find two gorgeous 40s dresses at the recent Goodwill popup shop--I think they were even used for this year's Vintage Fashion Week!  Sadly, both are way too small for me.  But maybe they will fit you. And make me super jealous.

For as old as they are, both dresses are in excellent condition and just waiting to get in your closet. They'll be posted to the shop this week, each priced somewhere between $100 and $150.
