Outfit Post: Clarissa Explains It All

The one nice thing about having your sister live 3 hours away, is that fact that she will send you fun packages just because!  Amanda sent me this little piece of nostalgia last week-- a Clarissa Explains It All t-shirt (it is legit-- it even has the Teen Nick logo on the sleeve!).  Yes, my love for all things 90's does include the realm of Nickelodeon television (The Secret World of Alex Mack, Salute Your Shorts, Hey Dude, Fifteen, Are You Afraid of the Dark....blast from the past, huh?).  The thing I really love about this tee though, it that is that perfectly worn in, soft cotton and heather gray.

The full finger ring was a Christmas gift from my husband--I love it!  The large statement bracelet, from my parents and the motorcyle boots were from Amanda!  Guess I was a good girl this year.  ; ) (the rest of the outfit are old pieces that I don't even know how to credit because I can't recall where/when I got them!)

I have been trying to figure out a way to wear a maxi skirt in the winter, and I think I'm happy with this combo.  A long open sweater and some motorcycle boots did the trick (and a hot pink lip for good measure)!  Any other good ideas for winter-izing a maxi dress or skirt?  I'd love to hear!

  1. Such an easy going outfit. I really like it. The t-shirt is pretty much awesome, too. Now, I feel like I should be on the look out for cool 90s show t-shirts so I can rock.

  2. I love this post for 2 reasons.

    1) I LOVE Clarissa Explains It All!
    2) Your outfit is awesome with all the pops of color and texture. It is a great casual, but still interesting outfit for the winter. Great job making the maxi work in the snow!

    1. Thank you! I was surprised that the outfit came together...I kept thinking I needed to use something more structured with the skirt, but somehow the slouchy tee and sweater worked!

  3. Very nice post! I've been wondering the same thing about maxi skirts though you are one step ahead of me since you obviously own one.

    1. Ha! I thrifted this skirt a couple years back and it was too long so I never wore it.... then I decided to hack off some length. It is crooked if you see it from the back, but at least I wear it now!

  7. OMG...Clarissa! Hey, Dude! Alex Mack! Yes, yes, yes. My very favorite, though was Are You Afraid of the Dark. :) What a fabulous find this shirt is. Amanda rocks.

I really like how you used very casual pieces with jewelry. It just steps up the whole outfit!

When asked at an event the other night what I feel constitutes when someone's appearance looks "pulled together" (besides the obvious: confidence), my answer was someone who can put a bunch of eclectic pieces together and still have it come out looking cohesive. Would you like to guess who I was thinking of when I said that? Ding ding! You guys!
