Outfit Post: Femme Fatale

This weekend, I was asked by a friend to do her hair and makeup for her dance show--she takes Urban Burlesque and they were supposed to look like "Pinup Dolls."  I was so excited about it. I started obsessively watching hair tutorials (looooove Cherry Dollface for old school styles!). And on the day of the show (which I was lucky to attend!), I decided that I wanted to look a little like a pinup doll too.

And now, I think I wanna keep looking like a pinup doll every day because I felt awesome and very much like myself--my best vintage self.

Outfit details: cardigan-Charlotte Russe, brooch-vintage/handmade, comic blouse-thrifted, skirt-vintage, tights-random, heels-Modern Vintage (thrifted), purse-vintage, letterman jacket (thrift score!!!)

I had been looking online for a basic letterman jacket--the vintage ones are just a little too heavy and it's rare to see a more neutral color combo. I stumble on this jacket--in my size--at the thrift, and I have barely taken it off.  And the comic strip shirt? It's a little wild for me, so I toned it down with simple basics.  And then there's that sweet little box purse...that I bought to put in the shop, but am now pretty sure I am keeping (at least for the holiday season!). My hair is from this tutorial (faux victory rolls with a barrel roll in the front).  Not too bad for the first time!

It felt good to let my personality shine through my clothes. Too often, I choose what's easy instead of what makes me feel really good. I'm determined to stop that--and to make sure I love every single thing in my closet!

xo,
Amanda

  4. That truly does suit your personality and your style so well!! I wore my hair in a similar way for my pinup-themed bridal shower way back when, and I can so see how it would be easy to get addicted to dressing that way! It feels so feminine and sexy and graceful all at once. Adore that comic shirt as well!
